Source: Mondo
Datum: 28.8.2007

Vocational training of 30 young Roma women and girls from socially most imperiled environments will begin in September, announced the city Secretariat for Education. The training will last two to three months, where girls will be trained for trade professions, such as hairdresser, beautician, pedicurist and manicurist. The project aim is to help girls from very poor families, refugees, from families with many members, and to girls without parents, who could not complete elementary education, to set free of isolation in social environment.
Thus they will become trained for work and therefore for better and complete integration in the society and gain opportunity to stop being poor. “The concept of the program is made of minimum of theoretic knowledge while participants should gain a high degree of skills through professional practice. Association for improving position of young people without qualification from Belgrade and Trade Chamber of Belgrade will enable these girls to realize practice in private companies after the training”, said Vesna Mirović-Pjevač, deputy of the education secretary. Women that show satisfactory level of knowledge and responsibility will also have an opportunity to get a job.
