Scholarships for Ethnic Roma Pupils in High-Schools

The Resources Center for Ethnic Roma Communities, in partnership with Ministry of Education, Research and Youngsters, Association Lecture and Writing for the Development of Critical Reasoning in Romania, Foundation ”Ruhama”, Association Pakiv Romania, will implement between May 2007 and June 2011, the project “Scholarships for Ethnic Roma pupils in highs-schools,” financed by Roma Education Fund.
The project aims at contributing at setting up Roma ethnic young elite through a complex support provided to a number of 275 ethnic Roma pupils from IX to XI grades, during a 4-year period of time.
The candidates were ethnic Roma pupils registered in the IX, X or XI grades during the academic year 2007 to 2008, who reported a general average of at least 7.50 during the academic year 2006 to 2007. The candidates will be registered in a high-school or school of arts and trades in several counties.
Some 55 mentors will provide individual educational support during the academic year 2007 to 2008, to the 275 ethnic Roma pupils.
The project financed by Roma Education Fund is part of the program “Alliance for ethnic Roma inclusion in the education.”
